Alice Tonks would love to make friends at boarding school. And, being autistic, she just wants people to accept her for who she is. But after a rather strange encounter with a talking seagull on her first day, she suddenly has a new challenge and a lot of questions.
Animals are going missing and Alice can’t solve the mystery alone. With new friends behind her, can Alice harness her magic powers and become the hero she never imagined?
A story about finding your voice, friendship and unlikely heroes, for fans of A Kind of Spark.
Emily Kenny has loved books for as long as she can remember. As a child, she could usually be found writing stories or reading children’s classics in her mum’s Volvo Estate. Now, she lives in South London with her family, which includes two very spoilt cats and three increasingly podgy rabbits. When Emily isn’t writing Middle Grade adventures, she can usually be found teaching English and supporting young people with Special Educational Needs. She likes quiet places, a good book and the company of a furry friend.
Emily studied English Literature with Creative Writing at university and completed an MA in Children’s Literature. Emily’s Middle Grade debut, The Extraordinary Adventures of Alice Tonks was published in May 2022 by Rock The Boat.
