Elodie was beautiful. Elodie was smart. Elodie was troubled. Elodie is dead.
In Provence, under a sweltering sun, Sylvie returns to the crumbling family home of La Reverie with her youngest daughter Emma.
Yet every corner of the house is haunted by the memories of Elodie, her first child - memories she has tried to forget, but whose long-ago death the villagers certainly haven't.
As temperatures rise, and forest fires rage through the French countryside, memories of Elodie spread further through Sylvie's mind . . .
Because there's something Sylvie's been hiding about what happened to Elodie all those summers ago.
And it could change everything.
THE MUST READ RICHARD & JUDY BOOK CLUB THRILLER PICK
Kate Riordan is a writer and journalist from England. Her first job was as an editorial assistant at the Guardian newspaper, followed by a stint as deputy editor for the lifestyle section of London bible, Time Out magazine. There she had assignments that saw her racing reindeers in Lapland, going undercover in Londons premier department store and gleaning writing tips (none-too subtly) during interviews with some of her favorite authors.
After becoming a freelancer, she left London behind and moved to the beautiful Cotswolds where she writes full-time. Her previous novels include The Girl In The Photograph, The Shadow Hour, The Stranger and The Heatwave, which was a Richard and Judy Book Club pick. _Summer Fever _is her fifth novel.
