Want a challenge but prefer writing to climbing mountains? Want to raise money for a chosen charity and indulge in your passion? The 2024 3 Peaks Writing Challenge has been created with you in mind!

The challenge:

Write 3 stories, 3000 words each, in 1 day. We choose the topic and give you an opening line; you write the story and submit it. 3 times. 3 peaks. 1 day.

  • When? Saturday 26th October
  • Time? 9 a.m. until midnight
  • Entry fee? Zero (free)
  • Charity? You choose a cause close to your heart

More detail:

On Saturday 26th October, at 9 a.m., participants will receive an email with an opening line for a short story. They will have until midnight to write three original stories, from three opening lines, one at a time, to complete the 3 Peak Writing Challenge.

  • Each story must be 3000 words (minimum)
  • Each story must start with the opening line provided
  • Each story must be original and the participant's own work
  • Each story must be submitted via email before the next opening line is released
  • The total permitted length of time is 15 hours for all 3 stories

That equals 600 words an hour, for 15 hours, without a break…!

Confirmation of a completed challenge will be provided via email within 5 working days (or sooner, depending on volume).
